About the position

We are looking for a Product Owner to join our Product Department. The Product Owner at DeepSea maximises the value of maritime digital and autonomous vessel products by owning and prioritising the product backlog. The role translates customer, regulatory, safety, and business requirements into clear specifications. Working closely with engineering teams, the Product Owner delivers reliable solutions across onboard systems, cloud platforms, and third-party integrations. The role coordinates stakeholders, ensures adherence to maritime standards and cybersecurity regulations, and supports the full product lifecycle from concept through deployment, certification and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities

What will you do:

  • Participate in solution discussions to understand customer pain, balance feasibility, customer value, and delivery impact.

  • Understand system architectures,  model behaviour, interrogate technical assumptions, and translate complex engineering concepts into actionable product requirements. 

  • Gather and interpret user and stakeholder feedback to continuously refine and enhance product features.

  • Own and maintain a clear, value-driven product roadmap by evaluating and prioritising feature requests and improvements aligned with customer needs and business priorities.

  • Break down complex initiatives into manageable deliverables for cross-functional teams.

  • Translate user pains into clear specifications, including descriptions of expected behaviour and outcomes, to guide development effectively.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams to define solutions that meet user and business goals.

  • Review completed work to ensure it meets product expectations for quality, usability, and reliability.

  • Maintain clear product documentation, including specifications, internal guides, and release communications.

  • Communicate roadmap updates, priorities, and progress clearly to internal teams and stakeholders.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • At least 4 years of experience owning or managing products or complex systems across their full lifecycle.

  • Strong ability to work effectively across different teams, fostering strong collaboration and maintaining alignment between stakeholders, engineering, and business functions.

  • Experience working in deep-tech, data-intensive, or model-driven environments.

  • An educational background in engineering, computer science, data analysis, applied mathematics, physics, or a related field.

  • Excellent written skills for translating needs into clear and structured requirements and specifications

  • Knowledge of modern product development practices.

  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage complex and evolving initiatives.

  • Experience working collaboratively across teams to ensure strong alignment between stakeholders and delivery teams.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with product or project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.

  • Experience working with monitoring, data quality, or system-performance platforms.

  • Familiarity with the lifecycle of data or ML/AI solutions and tools used by data teams or monitoring platforms.

  • Basic understanding of database concepts, APIs, or data-architecture principles.
